Ayako Huang, a native of Taiwan, recently earned her doctoral degree in management from Maharishi University of Management. Dr. Huang had previously studied in the United States and received a BA in business administration and a Master of Public Administration from Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington.
After receiving her master’s degree, Dr. Huang returned to Taiwan to work at the Central Trust of China bank. However, she soon realized her heart was pulling her in a different direction. She left the bank and opened her own English language school for children, which she managed for two years.
Next, she became director of the English Department in a large private children’s institution, where she supervised more than 125 teachers, delivered teacher training seminars, and ran the department’s administration. In addition, she enjoyed substitute teaching from time to time.
In 2005, Dr. Huang decided to return to school. She wanted to build on her experience in school management and combine it with her interest in higher education. For this reason, she chose Maharishi University of Management’s (MUM) PhD program in management.
“I really enjoyed the program,” said Dr. Huang. “Education is my passion and I want to teach management.” She has been a teaching assistant and an instructor in the part-time MBA program while completing her PhD. In the upcoming academic year, she will be a full-time assistant professor in the Department of Business Administration. 
Dr. Huang has welcomed the changes the Transcendental Meditation® program brought to her life, and this June she completed the TM-Sidhi® program. “I am never worried, and I feel stable in any situation,” Dr. Huang said. “I enjoy a sense of inner silence, which is the source of the most profound happiness. I often tell new students they should let themselves adjust to the environment instead of expecting the environment to adjust to them. In this way, they will learn to appreciate life more.”
