Maharishi University of Management’s MBA program is part of a sustainable business consortium.  Eight universities whose MBA programs feature courses in sustainable business have formed a consortium under which their MBA students can take summer courses on sustainability from the other members. This is a new avenue through which Maharishi University of Management students and faculty now have the opportunity to exchange ideas about and explore sustainable business .
Organizing the consortium was Scott Herriott, Professor and Dean at Maharishi
University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa. “Reading the web site of the Beyond Gray Pinstripes survey of MBA programs in sustainability, I was struck by the wide range of interesting courses on sustainability offered around the world. I thought I should find a way to make those courses available to MBA students beyond their university boundaries,” said Dr. Herriott. “Fortunately, a number of other deans and professors felt the same way, and the Consortium was the result.”
Participating schools include:
- University of Denver
- University of Maine
- University of Vermont
- Bainbridge Graduate Institute
- Brandeis University
- Seattle Pacific University
- Marylhurst University
- Maharishi University of Management
However, any university that wants to make courses in sustainable business available to their students may join the Consortium, and there is no charge for membership.
The Summer MBA Sustainability Consortium will begin this year by offering 8 courses during June, July, and August. Topics will include:
- principles of sustainability
- sustainable technologies
- metrics for sustainability
- green investing
- sustainable marketing
- strategic leadership in sustainable management
- environmental law
MBA students at any member institution may use their financial aid to take these courses. Most courses are available online.
