Yue (Mimi) Pan grew up in the city of Lanzhou in northwestern China and attended the Overseas Chinese College (OCC) of the Capital University of Economics and Business in Beijing. Out of the various programs offered by foreign universities at OCC, she chose Maharishi University of Management’s business program. She liked the block system of studying one subject at a time and, after meeting some of the Maharishi University of Management faculty, she decided to finish her degree at Maharishi University of Management (MUM) in Fairfield. Mimi received her BA in business in 2011 and her MBA this year.

During the past year, Mimi has been vice-president of MUM’s Chinese Culture Club. She organized the club’s main undertaking, the annual Chinese New Year celebration, which takes the club several months to prepare. The club, which caters to over 100 Chinese students on campus, also celebrates other Chinese holidays and welcomes all new students from China.
Mimi finds that the practice of the Transcendental Meditation® program helps her stay centered. “In any situation, I don’t feel upset. I am more stable and I know how to figure things out. There is always a way,” said Mimi. Her calm composure served her well during last year’s graduation knowledge fair, when she was asked to do a last minute presentation of a class project with only half a day’s notice. She took on the challenge and finished in third place.

Mimi has always enjoyed traveling and she recently visited South Africa with MUM Rotating University to study eco-tourism. Mimi also finds ways to express herself creatively by doing Chinese painting and ceramics. After graduating, Mimi would like to pursue a PhD in finance.
“Mimi is always open to new experiences and new knowledge,” said Vicki Alexander Herriott, co-chair of the Department of Business Administration. “You can count on her to help in every situation and to be a part of every adventure. In addition, she is an excellent photographer and took some of the best pictures of our trip to South Africa.”
At the 2012 graduation awards ceremony, Mimi received the Outstanding Student Award in Business Administration.
