Maharishi University of Management is excited to host the “Experience the Self” course this summer from July 10-22 with a five day option from July 10-15. The airing of Oprah’s visit to Fairfield on her network OWN has generated a large amount of interest in the area; and the Experience the Self course will enable everyone to get a taste of what Oprah experienced during her visit to Fairfield, Iowa and the Maharishi University of Management campus.
“My vision of this was to create an event where we can be unified and work together to deliver the best experience for our guests coming to Fairfield for the very first time,” said organizer Adrienne Schoenfeld, Director of Communications at Maharishi University of Management (MUM). “We want to offer perfect balance of rest and activity.”
Ms. Schoenfeld is cooperating with numerous local organizations including the Fairfield Arts and Conventions Center, the Office of Mayor Ed Malloy, the Maharishi Foundation, the David Lynch Foundation, and the MUM Global Student Council.
The “Experience the Self” course is designed to allow guests to personalize their daily course schedule to create a routine and itinerary that suits them. The Transcendental Meditation® technique will be taught in the morning and if you already practice Transcendental Meditation, you’ll learn an Advanced Transcendental Meditation technique. In the afternoons, the participants course participants can choose from a broad menu of activities including classes in:
- Maharishi Yoga asanas
- Maharishi Self-Pulse reading
- Sanskrit
- Vedic literature
- Poetry and Writers workshop
The all-inclusive event also offers entertainment such as concerts and special guest presentations, as well as opportunities to enjoy tennis, golf, canoeing, and walking and bike tours. Additionally, attendees will also be able to take tours of MUM, Maharishi School, Fairfield Art galleries and businesses, Maharishi Vastu buildings, and Abundance EcoVillage.
The course offers a special student package for full-time students that includes meals, housing, Transcendental Meditation program instruction, and all classes and events. The course can only accommodate 350 people and the organizers encourage everyone to apply early.

Having been inspired by tm-free blog I am considering a visit to
Fairfield. I have not been there in many years. Is the Primordial
Sound Meditation still learned in Fairfield? If it is still offered what is the retail price?
What is the cost of an advanced technique?
Many thanks.
Hi Joe,
I’ve never heard of Primordial Sound Meditation, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t in Fairfield. Maharishi University of Management staff, students, and faculty all practice Transcendental Meditation. I recommend http://www.tm.org for more information about the technique and associated costs. If you are considering the Experience the Self course, I recommend checking out the Experience the Self website for the course’s cost – http://www.experiencetheself.org/
I hope you enjoy your visit to Fairfield!
