Depending on your familiarity with Fairfield, IA and Maharishi University of Management you may or may not know about KRUU LP-100.1 FM. Well, KRUU’s latest project Dream Green aims to: …inspire you, your family, your friends, Iowa businesses and organizations to consider and to implement energy efficiency strategies in your home, school or business. Dream Green is a showcase of Iowa’s statewide sustainable efforts where you will find useful ideas, support and inspiration for your own efforts toward energy efficiency and sustainability.
Dream Green is created and produced by KRUU’s popular host team Maharishi University Media and Communications Professor Stuart Tanner and KRUU Co-founder James Moore, AKA Tanner & Moore.
“Green is the color of tomorrow. If we want to create new jobs, lower energy costs, protect the vital resources of our environment and create a sustainable future for the state of Iowa and it’s citizens, then turning green is what we need to do. I’m excited by this series as Iowa is already a center for innovation and there are some really great stories about communities, businesses, educators and individuals who are demonstrating what can be done now and what real benefits can be gained. It’s going to be a fascinating journey.“ – Stuart Tanner
Their guests are people with leadership roles in the sustainability industry and people with practical experience implementing sustainable initiatives.
A sampling of the topics covered:
- Solar boating tournament
- The future of Biofuels at the BioCentury Research Farm in Boone, IA
- Iowa’s first sustainability coordinator in Dubuque, IA
- Center for Energy and Environmental Education in Cedar Falls, IA
- Green agriculture
- PowerFilm Inc.
“Iowa is doing some amazing things. With early policy support from the state legislature, a national leadership role in wind generation, a well-grounded, common sense, hard work ethic, leading education institutions like ISU, UNI, UI and MUM, and strong public, nonprofit and private sectors working together, Iowa is in a unique position to take things to the next level, green-wise. What a privilege each week to highlight the state’s innovators, educators, cutting edge projects, best practices, and communities that are leading the way in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability.” – James Moore
Dream Green is funded by the Iowa Power Fund as well as 70 individuals and organizations around the state. Dream Green receives creative guidance from Maharishi University of Management faculty; and project support from students and alumni. Listen to the program online by clicking here.

looking at the windmill picture of greeniowa brings to my mind a new generation towers that are based on high tech wood constructions. You wouldn’t believe it, but they are more durable than the steel and concrete structures and leave a positive, not negative CO2 footprint!
