Iowa Summers are H-O-T. When considering the heat index, it can feel upwards of 100 degrees Fahrenheit for a good portion of the season. Maharishi University of Management is located in Fairfield, Iowa where we are lucky enough to have two outdoor swimming options on and near campus.

Waterworks Park on North B street features fresh water swimming with a sandy beach, picnic shelters, and playground.  You can also kayak, canoe, and fish there. Waterworks Park is within walking distance from Maharishi University of Management campus.  The annual Fourth of July fireworks display is also held at this park.

Maharishi University of Management’s (MUM) outdoor swimming pool is staffed with life-guards and open to the public June to the end of August.

The pool is equipped with showers, restrooms, picnic tables, a diving board, and snacks for sale. Swimming lessons are offered in the morning; and Monday through Thursday there are aqua aerobics and strength training classes available.

Monday – Friday 11am – 8pm (weather permitting) the pool is open to everyone. Saturday – Sunday hours are Noon – 7pm. Lap swimming is available beginning at 9am during the week, and any time the pool is open.

What could be better than a pool in the summer? Just make sure to put on the sunscreen.
