Post image for Australian student tells his experience of Maharishi University
Hey Everyone,

So just a few weeks ago now, I graduated from MUM and went home to Sydney, Australia, where I’ve been hanging out, skateboarding, surfing, and working on our new website for Transcendental Meditation in Sydney. As much as I love MUM, I have to admit it’s been great to be less than a 3hr flight from the beach!

Anyway, I was reflecting back on my three years of studying Maharishi Vedic Science at MUM, and I thought I’d share with you one of the most important revelations I feel I had during that time.

About a year ago, I was taking a class with Dr. Tom Egenes, head of the Maharishi Vedic Science Masters program. Now, there’s something about Dr. Egenes classes that makes you feel completely fulfilled, simply in the wonder of your own existence. So, one day I finished class, fulfilled as usual, and went to see a motivational speaker who was presenting in town. He turned out to be a great speaker, so I left feeling really pumped up. I felt like I was going to go out there and get it, you know. Get rich. Get successful. Get everything I wanted.

Shortly after, though, it occurred to me that I had walked in fulfilled… but walked out feeling there was something lacking, something that I needed to go out there and get. When I tried to pinpoint what that was, though, I couldn’t find anything. So, on realizing this, I basically dismissed everything I’d just heard and
went back to being fulfilled.

People often ask me what you get out of a Maharishi Vedic Science degree, since it’s not career oriented. Whenever they do, I tell them that story. For me, the most valuable thing I’ve taken out of my study of Maharishi Vedic Science is just that. Just an ever increasing sense of inner fulfillment, regardless of what might be going on outside.

Now that I’ve graduated, it feels like that sense of fulfillment is so strong that not even the best motivational speaker could take it away from me!

The Celebrity Happening

Post image for The Celebrity Happening

by Sudevi on April 24, 2010

Hello everyone! I’m in Stuart Tanner’s creative film class and our first assignment was to create a “happening.” A happening is an interactive art form, it must have at least two witnesses, two people that watch the art as it HAPPENS.

Sounds pretty crazy, right? Well you haven’t heard anything yet :]

My team in the class took it to the next level and set up an elaborate plan to pretend that I was a “Famous pop star from France” walking around a city about an hour from our town. The others in the class acted as my “bodyguards, paparazzi, camera crew, and adoring fans.” A lot of people walking around Iowa City fell for it! Here is a video I edited in class out of the footage we captured.

Enjoy!
